Last week we talked about Joseph. He was a very gifted guy; leadership; administration, he had a lot of things. Today we are going to talk about spiritual gifts, and how they are your launching pads to soar. God will put your gifts inside of you; you may just not know what they are at first. We have these gifts that are lined up with the dreams that God gave us.

What are Spiritual gifts?

1 Corinthians 12:5-11

There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God produces each gift in each person. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues,[b] to another, interpretation of tongues. 11 One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.

In this we see several different types of gifts:

-Serving Gifts (Gifts used to serve others)

-Foundational Gifts (things used to start a church)

-Revelatory Gifts (God reveals things to you)

-Manifestation gifts (proof and miracles)

Verse 7

A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good:

This is showing proof of something. Jesus came physically, died physically; and rose physically. He said that it was better that he should leave, so we receive the Holy Spirit. The gift of the sprit is receiving the proof of God’s presence here on Earth. Gifts show proof that God is here. He is here and he is going to have his way. The evidence is the fact that you have the gift.

Why do we have spiritual gifts?

Ephesians 4:12

Christ gave those gifts to prepare God’s holy people for the work of serving, to make the Body of Christ Stronger.

The act of serving; is like having a good waitress. If you have a good waitress, it will keep you coming back even if the orders are not correct, or the food isn’t that good. The service is what matters. People wants an experience they will remember. The Bible is giving a parallel; to the way you serve people at church is the way you serve people at a restaurant. What kind of waiter are you? Your gifts are a big deal; and they are a big deal. They are not just a small thing, they are for other people not just for you. In the Bible there are fruits of the spirit and gifts of the spirit. Fruits are for maturity; gifts are for serving. When you use both; you become a dangerous person to Hell; and a prime asset to Heaven.

Some people think that the ministry stops in the church. It doesn’t. There are people at church who go to the grocery store; Walmart, the gas station, the coffee shop; ANYWHERE you go! You can’t be idle and have gifts. You can’t stand still and be stagnant.

There’s a difference between being stagnant and waiting. They look the same but have different results.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

13 I may speak in different languages[a] of people or even angels. But if I do not have love, I am only a noisy bell or a crashing cymbal. I may have the gift of prophecy. I may understand all the secret things of God and have all knowledge, and I may have faith so great I can move mountains. But even with all these things, if I do not have love, then I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and I may even give my body as an offering to be burned.[b] But I gain nothing if I do not have love.

Maybe your problem isn’t a gift problem. Maybe it’s a love problem The service you give to something you love is way different than something you serve that you are “aquainted” with.

John 13:35

35 All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other.”

Some of you think you are not strong in the gifts; so look at how you love. Love is unconditional with God; it endures all things. Some of us gave up on people because they are too complicated. But LOVE endures. Love is patient; kind.. When you figure out your gifts; figure out your place to serve.

We are a hero making church— and you can’t make Hero’s with people who are only your age.

Know: learning about your gifts and how to use them is a journey. It’s a journey between you and God. Outside of this wall, you can grow this church. Poise yourself and give yourself an opportunity to serve someone like that.

Service to our church is one of the most vital important parts of this church. We want to raise you and train you I the “how” so you are masters; we want to make you a Hero!

The ability to grow in your gifts will change not only your own life; but your family, friends, and everyone around you.

You are commissioned as a missionary to our city, your family, the grocery store, the gas station, and anywhere you may go.
